Elva Graves, 87, of Faulkton, passed away, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Paul Smith Officiating. Burial will be in the Faulkton Cemetery.

Elva Crist was born April 21, 1923 in Jerauld County, South Dakota to Isaac and Matie (Wenzel) Crist.

On April 2, 1945 she married Francis “Bill” Graves in St. Lawrence, SD. They lived there until 1952 when they moved to Faulkton. While living in Faulkton Elva worked various places.

In her free time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and having coffee with the girls.

Elva is survived by her daughter: Kay (Bob) Campbell of Watertown; two step grandchildren: Andrew (Vanessa) Campbell of Las Vegas, NV and Jerry Campbell of Mt. Rose, CO; two step great grandchildren: Alex and Isabella Campbell of Las Vegas, NV; one son-in-law: Clarence Schraeder of Faulkton; and three special friends: Alice Sangster, Joan Bent and Joan Gutenkauf all of Faulkton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Iona Schraeder and one brother: Laverne Crist.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Elva’s arrangements.

  3. I was MR. and Mrs. Graves paper boy for a short time in the 60’s. I remeber Mrs. Graves always had the exact amt. when i came around to collect, always a enjoyable moment.

    Guess we Crists enjoy a longer life than lots of folks. I am Lawrence’s oldest daughter.
    My sister Rose, in WA state sent the message she’d gotten from a relative.

    Hope she’d not been ill for much of her life as that’s a bummer.
