Eva Rose Beckler, 80, Gettysburg, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Parkview Assisted Living, Bryant, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg with Fr. Jerry Kopel officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the church with a 7:00 p.m., scripture wake service.
Eva was born Feb 23, 1931, near Linton, ND. She was the eighth oldest of 14 children in the family of Bernard and Margaret (Feist) Keller. When she was quite young her family moved to a farm between Onaka and Seneca, SD.
Eva married Irvin Beckler on Feb 7, 1950 at St Boniface Catholic Church in Seneca, SD. They made their home on the Beckler family farm near Seneca. To this union seven children were born.
In addition to being an amazing homemaker, Eva worked at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg, SD for 33 years. She worked as an aide, dietary, dietary supervisor and in housekeeping. She enjoyed time with family and friends, quilting, cooking, gardening, dancing, playing cards and spending time at the river at West Whitlock Resort.
Eva is survived by her husband Irvin; the seven children: Ron (Debbie Dirksen) of Aberdeen, Kathy (Ed) Palmer of Pine City, MN, Debra (Doug) Wendling of Bryant; Don (Tracey Ogle) of Harold, Dan Beckler of Gettysburg, Rhonda (Jim) Berger of Rapid City, and Donna London of Gillette, WY; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one brother, Benjamin (Shirley) Keller of Yacolt, WA; and three sisters: Barbara Piatz of Bismarck, ND, Isabelle Beckler of Seneca and Cecelia (Larry) Lambrecht of Mandan, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant siblings; brothers: Casper Keller, Simon Keller, and Tony Keller and sisters: Rose Whalen, Mary Smith, and Caroline Gabriel.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Eva’s arrangements.
