Denice Kern, 57, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota with Pastor Timothy Koch officiating. Burial followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Wecota.  Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Denice was born June 13, 1954 to Donald and Marlene (Holsing) Kern in Faulkton, South Dakota.  She graduated from Faulkton High School in 1972 and Stewart School of Hairstyling in 1974.  She worked as a hairstylist for many years.  Denice later moved to Aberdeen where she worked and lived.

Bowling, reading, playing cards, and reconnecting with friends through facebook were some of her favorite pastimes.  Denice especially enjoyed spending time with all her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

She is survived by her mother, Marlene Kern; 6 siblings: Grant Kern, Crystal (Doug) Hinrichs, Tracy Kern, Zachary Kern, Paige (Kelly) Senn and Troy (Rose) Kern; 12 nieces and nephews; 6 great nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceding her in death is her father, Donald Kern and grandparents: Victor and Louise Holsing and Henry and Irma Kern.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Denice’s arrangements.

She was always friendly, always took the time to ask about each and everyone of my family members and how they were doing and this continued on while she worked at Kesslers. She took the time to visit with you, make you laugh and smile. She was one special lady and friend and I will miss our conversations at the Kessler’s bakery.

  7. I just saw Denice on Friday at Kesslers. We were shock when we read the paper. You have our deepest sympathy.

  8. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Denise was always so bubbly and happy to see you whenever you ran into her. Remember her smiles.

  14. My sympathies go out to Denice’s family. She was such a wonderful friend, I will miss her dearly. She would always talk with us when we were at kesslers and sometimes we would go out to eat and just sit and talk. I will miss that. She loved all of you so much.
