Charles E. Strader, 81, Gettysburg, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Oahe Manor, Gettysburg. 


Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Gettysburg with Pastor Jeff Adel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. 


Burial was held at 3:00 p.m. MDT, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Grandview Cemetery, Ft. Collins, CO with Pastor Scott Coerber officiating.


Charles “Chuck” Edward Strader was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on March 7, 1931 to James Courtland and Hazel Eurla (Thompson) Strader. He attended country school through the seventh grade before beginning his work life as a farmer, coalminer and construction worker.


On October 29, 1951 Chuck married Jo Ann Reichenbach. They had two daughters, Susan Jo and Vicky Lynn.


Chuck is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Gettysburg, SD; daughter, Susan Jo (Clair) Knapp of Windsor, CO; two grandchildren: Kimberly Sue (Craig) Crookshank of Ft Collins, CO and Ryan Lee (Michelle) Knapp of Yorba Linda, CA.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Vicky and brothers James Cleveland, Billy Ray and Rondall Strader.


In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to the charity of your choice.


Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg and Bohlender Funeral Chapel of Ft. Collins, CO have been entrusted with Chuck’s arrangements.

    I was so sorry to hear of your loss today. I will remember the last times we saw you all and the fun we had. It’s hard to believe that the Strader brothers have all passed on.

  5. Strader family…so sorry to hear about Chucks passing. I have fond memories of our families together. My folks considered both of you good friends, know that you are in my thoughts during this time.

  6. Our sympathies to JoAnn,Susan,and Clair…and family. Chuck worked very hard all his life including the many years building Oahe Damm…driving the biggest earth mover machines. Poor health over recent years prevented him from doing more but he always enjoyed visits with family and friends. God bless him.

  9. My grandpa is gone. I am hurting right now. I love you so much. It is hard to say goodbye but you are with god looking upon us. It was your time. I am so glad I got to talk to you on Saturday before you passed. Thank you for the wonderful memories. I will miss living next to you for most of my years, your hazel eyes like me and my mom’s. You are in heaven with Aunt Vicky. What I will miss most of all is you grandpa.
