Lorraine Lenz, 86, of Gettysburg, passed away, Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Oahe Haven in Gettysburg.

Funeral services were held at 1:30p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg with Fr. Mark Axtmann officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00p.m., Monday, October 15 at the Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg with a 7:00p.m. prayer service.

Lorraine Heck was born February 19, 1921 in Parkston, South Dakota to William and Pauline (Kursaw) Heck. She was raised in the Gettysburg area where she graduated in 1941. Lorraine then went on to Greene’s School of Beauty Culture in Rapid City to receive her degree in Cosmetology in 1942. She did her apprenticeship under Rose Smith and worked at Rose’s Beauty Shop from 1942 – 1958. Then Lorraine opened her own beauty shop based out of her home where she worked until see went in the Oahe Haven.

Lorraine married Roy Lenz on June 5, 1946 at the Sacred Heart Parsonage by Father P.P. Meyers. They established their home in Gettysburg and had two children, Dennis and Paula.

Some pastimes Lorraine enjoyed where bowling, golfing, playing cards, gardening, canning and traveling. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son: Dennis Lenz of Faulkton; grandchildren: DeNora (Jim) Reuer of Hoven and Dalen Lenz and friend Kindra Doherty of Pierre; one great granddaughter; Dasia Reuer; one brother: Melvin (JoAnn) Heck of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy, one daughter, Paula and her siblings: Leona, Arnold, Regina, Carolina, Earl and Wilbert.

  1. I got to know Lorraine when her husband Roy was in our nursing home.Then when Lorriane became a residet Igot to know her even more. She would often ask me about my twins,she would also comment often about my clothing how she always like my blouses. She was a great lady and will be deeply missed.
