Judy E. Schwartz, 66, of Miller and formerly of St. Lawrence, passed away with her loving husband Lloyd at her side on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Miller with Pastors Mary Ann Sheldon and David Belzer officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was hel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Judy Elaine was born March 11, 1946 in Pierre, South Dakota to Emmet and Ferrel (Beauchamp) Durfee. She attended Elementary School at a rural school near Stephan, South Dakota and later graduated from Highmore High School in 1964. She furthered her education at Stewart School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, graduating with a degree in Hairstyling and Cosmetology in 1965.
On April 9, 1966 she married the love of her life, Lloyd Schwartz in Highmore, South Dakota. To this union, three children were born: Teresa, Brett and Bryan. Judy operated a beauty salon in Highmore for Ben and Ida Weideman and later worked for them in Miller for several years. She later worked at the Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller and at Top Drawer Clothing Store in Miller. Judy and Lloyd farmed together for 43 years and operated a dairy farm in St. Lawrence. In 2010, they moved to the Miller Manor in Miller after retiring.
Judy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Miller. She enjoyed playing cards and being part of her coffee group.
Blessed to have shared in her life were her husband, Lloyd of Miller; three children and grandchildren: daughter, Teresa (Tracy) McGillick of Emmett, Idaho and their children: Conner (Amanda) McGillick of Fort Lewis, Washington and Kayla MGillick of Emmett, Idaho; son, Brett (Jennifer) Schwartz of Gretna, Nebraska; and son, Bryan (Diane) Schwartz of Broomfield, Colorado and their children: Brynn, Abigail, Emily, Hayden, Grady, Nolan and Landry, all at home; one brother, Carl (Margaret) Durfee of Navarre, Florida; sisters-in-law: Sherry Gavin of Pierre and Janice (Curt) Wilbur of Miller; brother-in-law: Phil (Mary Lou) Schwartz of Redfield and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Ferrel Durfee and brother, Mike Durfee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Judy’s arrangements.

So very sorry about your loss. Judy was a special one and your bond was very evident. I remember some crazy things we did as kids and it still makes me smile. She will be missed by all.

Was so sorry to read that Judy had passed away but know she is in a much better place now and no suffering. Janice has been so good to keep us updated and thanks to her for that. We will be thinking of you Lloyd and family in your days of remembering Judy and the many joys she bought to all. Our condolences go out to you.
Brett and family—We know that your mother suffered over the last several years but fought her condition. She was a true fighter. Although we cannot phyically be with you to show our support, please know how much we care. We are thinking of all of you and hoping the family can find some peace in the many good memories you have of your mom, wife, grandmother.
