Samuel Edwin Lehman, 51, of Des Moines, IA and formerly of Seneca, passed away, Wednesday, December 5, 2007 near Urbana, IA.

Funeral services were held at 2:00p.m., Monday, December 10, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Seneca with Fr. Joji Itukuleapata officiating. Burial was in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Seneca, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Ed was born in Faulkton, SD on October 30, 1956 to Bill and Mary Lou (Pundsack) Lehman. He grew up on a farm near Seneca, SD. Ed attended North Canton Country School until 8th grade and then started high school at Faulkton. He graduated from Hoven High School in 1974. Ed worked very hard on the family farm and was active in 4-H.

Following high school he worked for several years on road construction and then moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he began driving truck with his father. He eventually bought his own truck and trailer, traveling mainly to the East Coast hauling frozen meat.

Ed enjoyed music, muscle cars and Harley’s. He also cherished his time spent with family and friends. Ed was a very kind individual who was always willing to help his fellow man out whether you knew him or not.

Survivor’s include his daughter: Kristen Burton, Council Bluffs, IA; special friend, Karen Brandt, Des Moines, IA; his siblings: William (Peggy) Lehman, Gettysburg, Linda Switzenberg, Redfield, Laura Hartley, Ipswich, Coleen Freeman, Aberdeen, Joleen Christman, Hutchinson, KS and Joseph (Renae) Lehman, Aberdeen and 20 nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Lou (Pundsack) Lehman and one brother, Jay Dee in 1964.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
