Viola Breen, 90, of Gettysburg, passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community, Sioux Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg with Father Jerry Kopel presiding. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service at the church.
Viola Elizabeth Arbach was born February 25, 1922 in Hoven, SD to Mike M. and Rose (Hoffman) Arbach.
On June 19, 1946 she married Harold Breen in Hoven and made their home on a farm near Seneca where they raised their family. She always enjoyed her time gardening, reading and baking. In 1983 they moved into Gettysburg.
Viola was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society & Potter County Extension Clubs.
She is survived by her four children: Dianne Breen, Sioux Falls, Mary (Joe) Konst, Cary, NC, Patrick, Seneca and Sandra (Scott) Diegel, Rapid City; 10 grandchildren: Timothy & Jason Konst, Sarah Price, Chris Breen, Rachael Schilder, Katie, Matthew, & Jeffrey Breen, Brandon & Courtney Diegel; four great grandchildren: Beau & Isaac Price, Jeremiah Diegel, Kinze Breen; and her siblings: Laurene Kaiser, Hoven, Bette (Lawrence) Brotzel, Billings, MT; Clarence (Beatrice) Arbach, Hoven and Norbert (Mary Joan) Arbach, Pierre.
Viola was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; daughter-in-law, Janet; grandson, Michael, one sister, Clara Rader, and two brothers, Paul and Jerome Arbach.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Viola’s arrangements.
