Joyce attended north area rural school and graduated from Hoven High School, Val Victorian of her class. She went on to attend Northern State College for two summers. She worked for the Hoven Review Newspaper, gathering local news and typesetting on the Linotype machine and taught rural schools in Potter and Walworth Counties for five years.
Joyce’s faith was very strong. She taught Sunday school, attended rural Bible Class and was a member of rural Pembroke Lutheran Church until it closing and then Emmanuel Lutheran and Mission Guild in Gettysburg. She was also church historian for a few years. Joyce was also a member of the Country Home Makers Ladies Club and Potter County Historical Association.
When her father was not well, she and her sister did the farming. They raised cattle and chickens and milked cows. The farm was always short of water so they had to haul it until WEB rural water came. Later the farm land was rented out; a large garden was always raised and gathered in to occupy her time.
Joyce enjoyed reading, gardening, partaking in anything nature, doing leather crafts and visiting with family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Christine Taleff of Hoven; cousins: Donald (Elizabeth) High, Anita Henry, Phyliss Zuber, Miller Zuber, Deloris (Lyle) Tennant, Gladys Myers and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, Christ Taleff in 1962 and Marie Zuber Taleff in 1981; grandparents, Edward and Lena Zuber; uncles, George and Alfred Zuber, and Warner High; aunts: Anna L. High and Lucille Zuber and cousin, Willard Zuber.

I remember so well the times our families worked together to harvest and cut silage and the wonderful melons that each of us could have that were grown by some wonderful gardeners. Thank you for the memories.
Our sympathy goes out to you at your loss Joyce.
Christine,
Our sympathy to you at this time. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and we ask that God keep you in his ever loving arms. We have fun memories of “The Taleff farm” when we rode with Dad out to your place to do some work for you. Just a couple of weeks ago Lyle and I talked about your pet rabbit on the buffet and how neat we thought that was. May God bless you.
Bruce and Della Schumacher
