Alma (Herr) Dockter, 92, of Cresbard, passed away, Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.

Funeral services was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Cresbard with Rev. Timothy Koch officiating. Burial followed in the Cresbard Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.

Alma P. Herr was born November 29, 1920 in Wishek, ND, the second child of 11 born to Willie and Ida (Vossler) Herr. She was raised and attended country school in rural Wishek, ND.

Alma married David B. Dockter of Zeeland on February 12, 1941. In 1946 they moved to DeVoe Township, Cresbard where they farmed until 1966 when they moved to Emerson Township, Wecota. In 1985 they moved into Cresbard where Alma remained until entering the Faulkton Healthcare Center on July 1, 2013.

Alma was a charter member of Concordia Lutheran in Cresbard, being the only member still attending church services. She was also a member of the ladies aide.

She worked for several years in the cafeteria at the Cresbard School. Her free time was spent crocheting afghans, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and make her gourmet German dishes that the family loved to enjoy.

Alma’s life will be remembered by her loving children: Bernice Pate (George Long) of Niangua, MO, Robert W. (Cheryl) Dockter of Queen Creek, AZ, Phyllis Dockter of Cresbard, SD, Leslie H. Dockter of Phoenix, AZ and Marjorie Hestermann of Queen Creek, AZ; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; three sisters: Joyce Barbour, Centennial, CO, Dianna (Leon) Adamson, Lodi, CA, and Nancy (Don) Aubin, Herald, CA; three sisters-in-law: Francis Herr, Laverna (Clifton) Kaseman and Elaine Dockter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Dockter; her parents; five sisters: Viola Herr, Genevieve Herr, Irene Bechtold, Marcella Bauer and Luella Woehl; two brothers: Glenn and Floyd Herr and one grandson, Lance Dockter.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Alma’s arrangements.
