Clarence Schraeder

Clarence E. Schraeder, 75, of Faulkton, passed away, Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his home.
Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Faulkton Cemetery.
Clarence Eugene Schroeder was born March 8, 1938 at Gettysburg, SD to Fred and Margaret (Mann) Schroeder. He was the oldest of five children. He moved with his family to several farms in the Potter, Spink, Faulk, Beadle and Hand counties.
Clarence’s father would lease farm properties for a year at a time, which would require frequent moving and attending many schools. He was confirmed during his eighth grade at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller, SD.
After working on his parent’s farm, he enlisted in the United States Army, receiving training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and then was deployed to Germany for two years. After returning from Germany, Clarence married Iona Graves in April 1969 at the Faulkton Methodist Church. They were married for more than 33 years. Iona passed away July 5, 2002. Clarence remained in the family home in Faulkton.
Clarence worked for a local farmer for many years until ill health forced him to retire. He was actively working at the Village Apartments doing lawn care and snow removal at the time of his death.
Clarence was a member of the United Church of Faulkton and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
He is a survived by his siblings: Louis Schraeder of Marion, Darlene (Jessie) Watson of Redfield, Herbert (Ruth Ann) Schroeder of Powderly, TX and Herman Schraeder of Faulkton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Clarence’s arrangements.
