On July 26, 1975 Julie was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Doug Joachim at the United Methodist Church in Agar. They made their home on the family farmstead for three years before moving to into Agar where they raised their two boys, Justin and Jared.

Julie started out working for the Sully County Assessor before beginning her lifelong career with the school system. She worked as the business manager for the Agar School until it’s closing in 2004 and then continued as secretary at ABO School Systems.

Julie would spend time gardening, cooking and baking, mowing the yard, scrapbooking, quilting, bowling or playing farkle and bunko. Special events that Julie enjoyed attending were the JD Memorial Bull riding, the Stock Show in Rapid City and the NFR in Las Vegas.
