Dalen Lenz

dalen lenz

December 12, 1978 ~ August 31, 2008

Dalen Dennis Lenz, 29, of Belle Fourche, originally from Gettysburg, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his home.

Graveside services were held at 1:30p.m., Saturday, September 6 at the farm of Jim & DeNora Reuer, rural Hoven. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00p.m., Friday, September 5 at the Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg.

Dalen Dennis “Tuffy” Lenz was born December 12, 1978 to Dennis Lenz and Donata (Siebrasse) in Gettysburg. He joined a sister, DeNora, who since his arrival has had to share her birthday. Dalen got his nickname “Tuffy” from his early years in AAU Wrestling and it carried on through his basketball and football years. He will always be known as “Tuffy” to his family.

Dalen attended Gettysburg Schools until his junior year and graduated from Bison High School in 1997. He attended college at Black Hills State University for a short time returning to Gettysburg working for Gettysburg Livestock and Nauman Spray Service. Dalen then moved to Lemmon where he was employed by Wheeler Mfg. until 2006. Fall of 2006, Dalen moved to Hoven and resided with his sister while working on the farm. In the summer of 2007, he moved to Pierre and worked for Morris Inc. “the Rock Shop”, polishing rock into hearths, tabletops, monuments and other items. He enjoyed the craftsmanship and beautiful finished products. Dalen was very artistic, drawing and painting as a young man and enjoyed “remodeling projects” with his sister. In July of 2008, he moved to Belle Fourche, working for Natural Stone, doing the same kind of work he did at Morris, until his death.

In his free time, Dalen loved to hunt, fish and build things. His most exciting adventure was his elk hunt in Custer last fall. He also enjoyed spending time with his niece and godchild, Dasia, teaching her to enjoy all the sports that he loved.

Dalen is survived by his mother, Donata Siebrasse of Lebanon; father, Dennis Lenz of Faulkton; sister, DeNora (Jim) Reuer and niece, Dasia of Hoven, along with numerous relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Roy and Lorraine Lenz and aunt, Paula Lenz.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Dalen's arrangements.
