John Comstock, 78, of Fort Smith, Arkansas and formerly of Miller, S.D., died Monday, September 29, 2008 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Reck Funeral Home in Miller with Rev. Robert Ohnstad officiating. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
John was born June 14, 1930 in Miller, South Dakota to George W. and Edna A. (Roberts) Comstock. He attended grade school at Casterline Country School in North Hand County. He married Joan O. Kerber on October 12, 1957. They lived on the family farm. He had numerous jobs throughout his life; he ran a welding shop in Wessington and a gas station in Nebraska. They moved to Washington State until moving back to Highmore where he worked for Ted Jennings. They later lived in the Miller Manor until moving to Arkansas to be closer to their son, Glen. On May 1st, 1998, Joan passed away.
He enjoyed hunting and visiting with friends.
John is survived by his son, Glen Comstock of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one brother, Cal (Ester) Comstock of Mountain Home, Arkansas; brother-in-law: Arnold Kerber of Golden, Colorado; sister-in-laws, Rhoda (Don) Rombough of Miller, S.D. and Jeanie (Marlin) Lundholm of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; brothers, Herbert and Robert; and sisters, Doris Berg and Rosella Morris.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with John's arrangements.

SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT UNCLE JOHN. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS SMILE & MOST OF ALL HIS LAUGH. WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE.
