Gayle Paul Koeck, 78, of Miller passed away Sunday September 19 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. Visitation will be Wednesday September 22 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Miller with a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 23 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. Chester Murtha officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery. Gayle Paul Koeck was born December 3, 1931 to John and Matilda (Schaefers) Koeck at their home near Ree Heights, South Dakota. He attended rural schools and Miller School thru the 8th grade. He loved farming and moved into Miller on October 15, 1997 due to ill health.

Gayle entered the United States Army on July 7, 1955 and was honorably discharged a Specialist Third Class on May 3, 1957. He built bridges while in the army.

On June 8, 1967, he was married to Donna Marie Peck at Immaculate Conception Church in Stephan, South Dakota.

Grateful for having shared his life are his loving wife of 43 years, Donna Koeck of Miller; three sons, Terry John Koeck of Portland, Oregon, Michael David (Alicia) Koeck of Miller, Daniel Ray Koeck of Miller; three daughters, Patsy Rae (Bob) LeGrand of St. Lawrence, Mary Ann (Daryl) Mason of Watertown, SD, Carol Marie (Daron) Otto of Canby, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Misty Rae Selting, Beau LeGrand, Courtney Nicole Mason, Derek Michael Mason, Emily Marie Otto, Ashlyn Renae Otto, Alicen Kimberly Koeck; three great grandchildren, Chasity Rae Selting, Kylie Jo Selting and Carlie Lynn Selting; three sisters, Celesta Sally Martinmaas of Reno, Nevada, Marion Roeber of Redfield, South Dakota and Carolyn Wilson of Paducah, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Colleen (Don) Koeck of Miller, Agnes (Francis) Koeck of Miller; brothers-in-law Jim (Shirley) Peck of St. Lawrence, Joe (Shirley) Peck of Mesa, Arizona, and Jack (Karen) Peck of Huron, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Matilda (Schaefers) Koeck, two brothers, Francis Leopold Koeck, John Donald Koeck; two brothers-in-law, John Kenneth Roeber, Mugs Werner William Martinmaas; sister-in-law LaJean Peck; nephews Mike Peck and Werner Martinmaas Jr., Father and Mother-in-law Ray and Theresa Peck.
