Kenneth W. Steptoe, 77, of Miller, died Tuesday, April 6 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be at Rembold Funeral Home on Friday, April 9 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Kenneths funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with Rev. Beth Kelsey and Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Morningside Cemetery in Ree Heights.
Kenneth Wayne Steptoe was born November 20, 1932 in Hand County, South Dakota to William R.L. and Velma (Wyant) Steptoe. He lived his entire life in Greenleaf Township, except for two years while he served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army. He married Delores Steele on April 17, 1955 in the Ree Heights Community Church.
He was an honest man who enjoyed farming and ranching. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchild. He was a soft spoken man with a wonderful sense of humor.
Kenneth was an active member of the Masons. He was a member of the Speirs Lodge number 186, and the Maxwell Chapter number 133 of Ree Heights for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Hilltop Grange. Kenneth served on the Ree Heights Elevator Board and the Greenleaf Township Board.
He is survived by his wife, Delores, of Miller; his children Beverly (Mike) Rogers of Redfield, Charles (Michele) Steptoe of Miller, Jeanette (Richard) Busch of Sioux Falls, and Jerry Steptoe of Miller; six grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Binger of Redfield, Brett, Kara, and Troy Busch of Sioux Falls, Trent and Kristi Steptoe of Miller; one great grandchild, Hunter Binger of Redfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
