Neil Harvey, 57, of Miller, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 24 at St. Anns Catholic Church, Miller, with the Father Terry Anderson officiating. The family will be present at Rembold Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and there will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service with Rev. Brian Jones officiating.
Neil Eugene Harvey was born on January 31, 1951 in Miller, South Dakota. Neil grew up on a farm in south Hand County, and attended Spring Lake country school. He later graduated from Miller High School in 1969. After high school, Neil attended the University of South Dakota, and later completed his education at Lake Area Technical Institute with an Associate Degree.
After attending USD, Neil held various jobs including working in the Wyoming oil fields, managing a custom combining crew, and building roads for Sivertsen Construction. Neil farmed with his father-in-law Louis Donlin for twenty years, and spent the last number of years farming for Howard Peterka.
Neil married Kathleen Donlin in June of 1975. They lived in Pearl Township where they raised three sons.
Neils loves included working with cattle, and farming. He cherished spending time with his family, enjoyed sharing jokes and stories, loved to entertain his nieces and nephews, and later his grandson Thomas. Among his other interests were reading, playing cards, and having coffee with his many friends.
Neil is survived by his wife Kathleen; three sons, Sean of Minneapolis, MN; Ryan of Miller; Darin of Sioux Falls, and one grandson Thomas Cuny; his mother Roberta Harvey of Miller; his siblings Donna (Lonnie) Hanson of Rapid City, Jerry (Marsha) of Casper, WY; Merle (Teresa) of Rapid City, Nancy (Loren) Major of Sioux Falls; 19 nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bill Harvey.
