Edwin Eugene Yost was born on November 24, 1926 to Charley and Hazel (Campbell) Yost at the Ed Miller Place near Miller, SD. This is where he got his name. He was their second child. Edwin attended Johnson School until 8th grade.
Edwin married Norma Thompson (his DOLL) on August 9, 1953 at the ConRod farm north of their current farm place. Edwin and Norma moved to the current farm (Norma?s family farm) in 1964. Edwin and Norma had two sons, Dennis Eugene born on May 26, 1954 and Terry Allen born September 3, 1955.
Edwin was in the army and served in the Korean War in 1950. He was a machine gunner, served on the front line and trained newly arriving boys in Japan to help fight the war. He arrived home from the war on January 28, 1953.
Edwin served on the Como township board for 38 years. He was a dealer for Archer Oil Company for 46 years and sold Sakota seed corn for 12 years. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle until he retired in 2003.
Edwin enjoyed watching his sons race. He truly enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow up. His eyes would light up whenever they were around.
