Jean Gard, 92, of Miller, died Monday, April 22nd at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday April 26th at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 25th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service all at Rembold Funeral Home. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery.

Jean Ravenscroft was born February 27, 1921 in Vayland, South Dakota to Arvey and Clara (Brown) Ravenscroft. She grew up in Vayland, working in the family store with her parents and four sisters. Jean graduated from Wessington High School in 1939. After graduating from high school, she moved to Miller and worked at J.W. Johnsons.

On March 16, 1943, she married Robert Gard. To this union three children were born. Jean spent her life taking care of her husband and children. She enjoyed coffee with friends and her main delight was making Grandma Gard blankets for her family and many friends. Grandkids always knew there were chocolate chip cookies in her freezer.

Jean enjoyed the last year of her life at the Miller Good Samaritan Center and appreciated the exceptional care she received from the staff.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children, David (Ginger) Gard of Canton, Sally (Duane) Resel of Miller, Clair (Carmen) Gard of Canton; 12 grandchildren, Stephan (Lori) Resel, Stephanie (Boney) Bonebright, Sarah Resel, Heather (Todd) Johnson, Rich (Gretchen) Lundstrom, April (Brad) Klarenbeek, Whitney Gard, Amy (Shane) Bertsch, Jodi (Trevor) Ekle, Bob (Erin) Gard, Derek Gard, Brett Gard; 18 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Dorothy Stobbs, Velda Welbes, Eunice Siegling and Elaine Fritzsche.
