JoAnn Kellogg, 76, of St. Lawrence, died Tuesday, January 14th at the Good Samaritan Center in Miller. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18th at the St. Lawrence Community Church. Visitation will be Friday, January 17th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service all at the St. Lawrence Community Church. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

JoAnn Kellogg was born on September 4, 1937 in Gregory, South Dakota, the daughter of Bernard and Leona (Ryan) McElroy. She began her walk with the Lord in March 1956. She married Allen Kellogg on April 21, 1956.

They worked on a couple of ranches West River before attending Bible School at Briercrest Bible Institute, Saskatchewan, Canada. During the summers they taught in several Daily Vacation Bible Schools and worked at Victory Center Bible Camp in the Black Hills and then at Fort Pierre. JoAnn was a teacher?s aide, alongside of Allen while he taught in several country schools. They went to Alaska for a year as house parents working for Lazy Mountain Children Home. JoAnn drove bus for St. Lawrence and Miller Schools and Harrold Public School and was a teacher?s aide at the Millerdale Colony for many years.

JoAnn worked beside Allen from the beginning when they purchased the farm in 1970. She spent many hours in the tractor and milking dairy cows. They truly had a partnership in their farming business.

She was a member of the St. Lawrence Community Church. She has taught Sunday School, told the story of ?Sunday School Charlie? for many years at Vacation Bible Schools at St. Lawrence, served on the Christian Education, Missions and Pastoral Search Committees at her church. In 2006 she went on a missionary trip to Guatemala. In 2011 they were inducted into Sunshine Bible Academy?s Hall of Fame for their years of support.

She is survived by daughter, Cindy (Wayne) Goodrich of Ramsey, MN; son, Kevin (Sandy) of St. Lawrence; brother, Kevin (Teresa) McElroy of Finley, ND; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Putnam, Joseph (Annie) Huber, Travis and Tyler Goodrich, Jaden Kellogg and Trent Goodrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen and a brother, Jerry McElroy.

I can still hear her heart-felt laughter as she went about her tasks joyfully in the church and community. A loss so great can leave such a emptiness, yet the memories of a life of service and devotion will comfort during this time. Please know my childhood in our small community was richer for having known JoAnn.
