Dustin Lee was born April 14, 1985 in Watertown, SD to Brian and Tammy (Arbogast) Heezen. The family lived in several communities through the years for his dad’s work. Dustin attended schools in Minden, NE; Huron, SD; and later finishing his education in Pierre, SD.

On August 27, 2005, Dustin married Rachel Coyle, “Chel” as he always called her, at Lily Park in Ft. Pierre, SD. They made their home in Miller where Dustin worked for Mid-Dakota Vegetation Management. Dustin then took a job with Dakota, Minnesota, and Eastern Railroad, now known as Rapid City, Pierre, and Eastern. He worked for the company for nine years. A very strong work ethic and completing his work to perfection were extremely important to Dustin. He always was one to help anyone in need, no matter the situation or circumstances.

His children were his life. He took great pride in all their accomplishments. Madison Lynn Leidholt, “Duck”, was born October 3, 2004; Ashton MayLynn Heezen, “Chubby Butt”, was born January 1, 2005; and Talan John Heezen, “Buddy”, was born April 9, 2007.

As a father, he was very active in his children’s lives and activities. He loved to take his family hunting, camping, fishing, and to the farm to help with chores. The family farm was his treasured hobby he held dear. Dustin was always a playful dad with lots of wrestling and tickling, with many cuddles to follow. He was also a very loving and caring husband who always made sure his wife was taken care of. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Dustin made sure his sister, Emily, always got the biggest buck he could spot.

Dustin will always be in our hearts and by our side, forever and always.

Left to cherish his life are his wife, Rachel of Miller; two daughters: Madison of Pierre, and Ashton of Miller; a son, Talan of Miller; mother and step-father, Tammy and John Buszko of Leland, NC; sister, Emily of Brookings; two step-sisters, Niah and Naomi; a step-brother, Nick; parents-in-law, Jim and Marita Coyle of Miller; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Kirk) Phinney of Milbank; brother-in-law, Sean (Jessica) Coyle of St. Lawrence; niece and nephews, Camryn, Carter, and Collin Phinney, and Kooper Coyle; grandparents, Larry and Janice Arbogast of Miller, Jack Heezen of Ree Heights, and Sheryl Kremer of Miller; grandparents-in-law, Celesta Martinmaas of Reno, NV and Florence Coyle of Miller; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is now in Heaven with his father and hunting buddy, Brian Heezen.

In lieu of flowers, the family has a memorial fund set up at American Bank and Trust in Miller.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Dustin's arrangements.

  27. I am so sorry to hear the news about your recent loss of your dear husband, Father, and Friend.
With my sincere condolences, I write you today. Your family are in my
thoughts and prayers. I am sending you a note of comfort and a sincere hope that
you can find peace at this hurtful time. I have a daughter, the same age as Dustin. I can not imagine your sorrow. Remember, Jesus even shed tears for his
friend “Lazarus" in the Bible-died. Death is a very hurtful enemy of the living.
    (Revelation 21:1-4)
I found comfort with my mothers lost at age thirteen, by reading scriptures. I received a letter similar to this one, with a similar message. I found reading and searching for God and his promises helped. I visited a website (JW.ORG) and It is full of scriptures of Hope and information about the Bible, and I loved the resurrection hope the bible talks about. I am sure you will as well. Its encouraging and peaceful.
With all my prayers to your family, and deepest sympathy.
    Sincerely Yours,
    Helen West
