Jessica Rose Bear Eagle, 15, of Eagle Butte, daughter of Bruce and Mary (Little Star) Bear Eagle, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Eagle Butte.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., MDT, Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Margaret Watson officiating. Burial followed in the UCC Cemetery, Bridger. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., MDT, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the church with a procession from the 4 mile corner at 4:00 p.m.
Jessica Rose Bear Eagle was born October 23, 1999 to Bruce and Mary (Little Star) Bear Eagle at I.H.S. Hospital in Eagle Butte, SD. She received her education at Tiospaye Topa School in LaPlant, SD; except for her Head Start year, which she attended in Eagle Butte.
While Jessica was in school she enjoyed playing basketball and participating in cheerleading and Math Club. She was proud to have earned her laptop from her studies in math. Jessica spent any free time she had hanging with friends and swimming. She could always be found with a smile and uplifting personality.
Those left to cherish Jessica’s life are her parents: Bruce and Mary Bear Eagle of Eagle Butte; siblings: Angel Bear Eagle of Eagle Butte and Joey Little Star of California; nephew, Athen Little Star - who she loved very much; grandmas: Laura High Bear and Marlene Little Star, both of Eagle Butte; grandpa, Donald Metcalf of Red Scaffold; great grandpas: Dwight and Nelson Garfield; aunts: Cheri Little Star, Lee Little Wounded, and Lonna Baumeister; uncles: Travis Little Star, Sidney Little Star, Howard Little Star, Jr., Thurman Little Wounded, Justin Bear Eagle, Chip Baumeister and Terry Collins, Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: CeCe Baumeister, Howard Little Star, Sr., and Juan JoJola; and great grandparents: Charlotte Garfield and LeRoy Curley.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Jessica’s arrangements.
