Rosemary Augspurger, 83, of Miller, lost her courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Miller with Father Bill Osborn, celebrant. Burial followed at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Miller. A prayer service was 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at the church.
Rosemary Margaret was born October 18, 1931 to Herman and Rose (Koeck) Oligmueller in Miller, South Dakota. She attended grade school in the Labor and Cotton Country Schools and graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1949.
After High School, Rosemary worked as a telephone operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company before marrying Marvin Augspurger on June 10, 1952. She then became a homemaker and mother of five children. Marvin and Rosemary were blessed to have celebrated 63 years of marriage this past June. Rosemary and Marvin were fortunate to take many trips together with family and friends. They enjoyed their outings, but home was always the place to be for visiting and entertaining.
Rosemary was an avid reader, great baker, and house decorator. She was always ready for a shopping trip to Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, or Rapid City in search of a special find. Time spent with family was important to Rosemary and she offered up the best caramel rolls, pies, and cookies for family gatherings.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was active in St. Ursula’s band as well as being a CCD teacher. Rosemary enjoyed her neighborhood coffee get-togethers, along with watching her children and grandchildren participate in athletics and other school events.
Rosemary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and mentor. She was our “go to” person, always willing to lend a hand, listen, and give advice. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Blessed to have shared in her life were her husband, Marvin of Miller; children: Mary (Craig) Cooper of Spearfish, Barbara (David) Schempf of Spearfish, Nancy (Gregg) Carlson of Aberdeen, Janet (Terry) Bosecker of Gillette, WY, Charles (Bridgett) Augspurger of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eight siblings: Mary Scheier, Donna Grossman, Helen Tarabetz, Joe (Sharon) Oligmueller, Bill Oligmueller, Fred (Bev) Oligmueller, Joyce (Peter) Royal, and Duane Oligmueller; one sister-in-law, Helen Oligmueller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman Oligmueller, Jr.; three brothers-in-law: Benny Scheier, Lee Grossman, and Miroy Tarabetz; and one sister-in-law, Audrey Oligmueller.
The Family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Society for their professionalism and caring hearts, not only to Rosemary but to her family members as well.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Rosemary’s arrangements.
