Paul LaRosh

Paul LaRosh, 98, of Onida, passed away, Thursday, November 05, 2015 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, Pierre.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Onida with Pastor Jeff Adel presiding. Burial followed in the Onida Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7:00p.m., Monday, November 9, 2015 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg with visitation one hour prior.

Paul Wilbert LaRosh was born April 6, 1917 in Potter County, SD to Reuben and Adah (Schuster) LaRosh. He attended school in Potter County.

On October 6, 1942, Paul was united in marriage to Vivian Crosby at the Mennonite Church, six miles east of Onida. They made their home near Gettysburg for a few short years before moving to Vivian’s family farm near Onida. They raised their family there and Paul remained there until the time of his death.

He loved living and working on the farm, which he did all of his life. He also enjoyed singing, watching the crops grow, watching harvest, and to have animals around the farm. One other favorite past time was having company stop by.

Paul’s life will be cherished by his children: Tom (Nola) of Onida and Jim of Pierre; seven grandchildren: Becky (Eric) Newell of Barnesville, MN, Heather (Shawn) Hofer of Marion, Brandon (Tina) of Onida, Somer (Justin) Garrigan of Newell, Jessica (Matt) Buhler of Onida, Brock Hyde of Sioux Falls and Tara Watson of Onida; 17 great grandchildren: Katie and Amelia Newell, Noah, Zach, and Isaac Hofer, Taydon, Bryson, Payson, and Tennisyn LaRosh, Quentin and Karsin Garrigan, Evia, Ally, Henry, and Renlee Buhler and Trichelle and Tomi Kaye Watson; one sister: Alosia Todd of Gettysburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian in 2001; one daughter, Pat in 1991; three brothers: Rudy, John and Chad; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law and one great grandson, Jackson.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Paul’s arrangements.
