Wayne Fawcett
August 4, 1930 ~ December 24, 2015
Wayne Fawcett, 85, of Miller, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the St. Lawrence Community Church with Rev. Scot Tutt officiating. Burial with military honors followed at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at the St. Lawrence Church.
Wayne Edwin Fawcett was born August 4, 1930 in Miller, South Dakota to Edwin and Ada (Benson) Fawcett. He attended all twelve years at Ree Heights School, graduating in 1949. Wayne was active in basketball and showing calves in 4-H. He attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, taking a two year course in agriculture.
He served in the Korean War from May 7, 1952 to February 11, 1954. On July 12, 1952, Wayne married Helen Hines at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Together they ranched southwest of Ree Heights before moving to the ranch southeast of Miller on June 2, 1960. Wayne also owned Fawcett Enterprises being a dealer for Titian West, selling livestock handling equipment. He custom made and sold Nylon tow ropes.
Grateful for having shared Wayne’s life are his wife, Helen Fawcett of Miller; son, Steve (Brenda) Fawcett of Potomac, MT; daughter, Dawn (Arlen) Roland of Montezuma, IA; son, Randy Fawcett of Miller; son, John (Darlene) Fawcett of Sioux Falls; daughter, Della (Gaylon) Anderson of Aberdeen; and son, Scott Fawcett of Huron; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Don) Steptoe; four brothers: Harland (Carole) Fawcett, Dale (Betty) Fawcett, Rodney (Rose) Fawcett, and Don (Marlys) Fawcett; one brother-in-law, Tom Hines; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Sanford and Matilda Hines; brothers-in-law, Laverne Hines, Roger Hines, and Herbert Hines; and sisters-in-law, Doris Rediger, and Mazie Rediger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Sunshine Bible Academy or Potomac Bible Church in Potomac, MT.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Wayne’s arrangements.

Helen and family my deepest sympathy for you. I always liked Wayne so much. A happy go lucky person and a hard working person.I will never forget I stayed awhile with you when I was real young and you and Wayne had me help your kids clean a chicken house and I got to feeling sick. Not too long after being a city boy!! God be with you.

Darrel would like to share with Wayne’s family , Darrel always appreciated Wayne giving him a job when he was going to Sunshine Bible Academy. This job made Darrel’s attendance at SBA possible. So sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of Wayne from the 60’s of hauling bales on Saturdays. I also stayed there for three months in 1965 to help with chores and calving before and after school at Sunshine.
