Rodney Iron Hawk, Sr.

 Rodney Iron Hawk, Sr., 45, of Red Scaffold, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at Sanford Health, Sioux Falls.

Funeral services were held 10:30a.m. MST, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Frazier Memorial Church, Frazier with Pastor Byron Buffalo presiding. Burial was at Frazier Memorial Cemetery. A wake service was held at 7:00p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at the church with a procession from Ash Creek corner at 4:00p.m. MST.

Rodney L. Iron Hawk Sr. was born on December 25, 1970 to Claude A. and Goldie Nora (War Bonnet) Iron Hawk at Eagle Butte SD. He attended school in Red Scaffold and Takini, graduating from Takini in 1989.

Rodney worked construction at Morris Inc. in Pierre, SD and lived in Frazier, Takini and Philip, SD earlier on. He finished out the last four years of his life in Sioux Falls, SD to be near family.

Some of his favorite things to do included hunting, fixing cars, cooking, exploring, and spending time with his children. He had a very loving and caring personality and was said to be a “gentle giant”. He loved to make jokes and enjoyed life.

Rodney is survived by his children: Precious Hope Iron Hawk of Sioux Falls, Deleon Iron Hawk of Sioux Falls, Deidra Iron Hawk of Huron, Rex Morrison of Sioux Falls, Taylynn Iron Hawk of Huron, Claudette Iron Hawk of Huron, and Kenneth Iron Hawk of Huron; grandchildren: Tiana Iron Hawk, Rodney Iron Hawk III, Affinity Iron Hawk, Jaeshawnia Iron Hawk, Wyatt Lasley, Miguel Jimenez-Solo Jr., Raquel Jimenez-Solo, and Leah Waldner.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney Iron Hawk Jr.; and sister, Ione Butcher.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Rodney’s arrangements.
