Russell “Russ” Geist, 44, of Faulkton, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Faulkton with Pastor LeShea Avery officiating. Burial followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Wecota. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service all at the church.
Russell Roy Geist was born September 3, 1971 to Harold and Carol (Kolb) Geist at Faulkton, SD. He attended Faulkton Public School.
Russ was known to be a jack of all trades when it came to his work, and his true passion was farming and raising cattle. Russell’s best friend was his beloved dog Jake, but he also loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed when their hunters would come out for hunting season. A big hobby for him was attending auction sales and collecting guns.
Russell is survived by his father, Harold of Faulkton; siblings; Rick (Diane) Geist and Duane (Sharon) Geist of Faulkton, Robert (Tammy) Geist, Randy Geist, Kathy Geist and Dale (Karen) Geist all of Aberdeen; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol; his brother, Mark; and his grandparents.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Russell’s arrangements.




To Russell’s family, We are so sorry for your loss. Russell was a kind and gentle soul. He always had a huge smile and a kind word every time you would see him. He was always a joy to work with in the FSA Office. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We are so sorry about the loss of Russ. He will deeply missed by everyone. He is now at peace and no longer has to fight the demons that took over his life. Rest in peace my nephew.
