Marian “Midge” Stager, 89, of Cresbard, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Avera St. Luke’s Aberdeen.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Cresbard with Rev. Timothy Koch officiating. Burial followed in the Cresbard Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.
Midge was born October 22, 1926 in Cresbard to Fred and Lottie (Chapman) Gabler. She was raised on the family farm southwest of Cresbard; graduating from Cresbard High School in 1944. On October 26, 1944, she married Lauren Stager. From this union two sons were born, Steven and Larry. Midge and Lauren farmed and lived on Lauren’s family farm until retiring in 1975, then moving into Cresbard.
Midge enjoyed playing a game of cards, bike riding, bowling, driving her golf cart around Cresbard, cooking, baking and anything chocolate. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
Midge was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her two sons, Steven (Janice) Stager of Aberdeen, and Larry (Peggy) Stager of Cresbard; grandchildren: Stephanie Stager (Brad Nelson) and Tiffanie Stager, both of Minneapolis, MN, Todd (Laura) Stager of Casa Grande, AZ, Cody (Heather) Stager of Cresbard, and Katherine (Travis) Ping of Highmore; and great grandchildren: Jacob, Seth, Caleb, Darby, Coy, Talon, Lainee, Mesa Midge, and Ashland; sister-in-law, Eileen Gabler; brother-in-law, Gene Stager; and special friend, Wanda Holt.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Lauren in 2003; siblings, Inez and Jim; nephews, Doug and Dave McGaugh; and one grandson, Nathan Stager.
