Jane, along with her twin brother James, was born July 12, 1933 in rural Hand County to Elizabeth (Pfiefer) and Louis Hare. She went to Miller High School and graduated in 1954. Jane was united in marriage to Donald Andrews of Goodwin, SD in 1954. They had three children: Cynthia, Karen, and Sandra. On November 18, 1972 she married James Snyder and they had one son, Troy.
Jane was a devoted homemaker with everything in its place. She spent her early years cleaning houses and delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. She also spent many years helping her elderly neighbors. She would check on them regularly, to ensure they were doing well and not lonely. She could also be found at the nursing home, visiting those friends that she could no longer help care for. She was an integral part in the upbringing of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often babysat them and attended their many events.
Jane enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, hunting, and canning with her husband, Jim. She also enjoyed embroidering, reading, and spending time with her family. Her faith was very important to her and missing Mass was not an option for her. Jane was also known for her contagious sense of humor and risk-taking.
She is survived by her husband James Snyder of Miller; children: Cynthia (Alvin) Martinmaas of Orient, Sandra (Dwight) Greenough of Miller, and Troy (Sarah) Snyder of Pierre; grandchildren: Lisa (Tom) Edgar and Eric (Brenda) Martinmaas of Orient, Nicole (Cliff) Dorris of Memphis, TN, Caleb (Stacey) Martinmaas of Pierre, Roxanne (Jordan) Fiechtner of Brookings, Edward Switzenberg of Orient, Theresa and Tiffany Switzenberg of Sioux Falls, Jane Harms of Sioux Falls, Dylan and Andrew Snyder of Pierre, and Hillary (Heath) Smith of Miller and Seth Greenough of Miller; her great-grandchildren: William, Raymond, Joleene, and Isaiah Edgar of Orient, Shannon and Erin Dorris of Memphis, TN, Dayna, Ethan, and Wyatt Martinmaas of Pierre, Joey Fiechtner of Brookings, and Everlee Smith of Miller; and her son-in-law, Ricky Switzenberg of Sioux Falls.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald; daughter, Karen; granddaughter, Joleene; and brothers: Leroy, Robert and James Hare.
