Percy Dupris, Jr.

Percy Dupris, Jr., 68, of Dupree, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Multi-Purpose Building, Dupree, with Deacon Harold Condon presiding. Burial followed in the Dupree Cemetery, Cherry Creek, SD. Wake services began 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Multi-Purpose Building with a 4:00 p.m. procession, east of town.
Sonny Boy, as he was known to all of his friends and relatives, was born August 7, 1947 to Rose Condon and Percy Dupris, Sr. at the Old Cheyenne Agency. Growing up he attended Cherry Creek Elementary School and Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School.
On February 1, 1968, Percy enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, California. He graduated from the Marine Corp, and then Percy served one year in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on December 23, 1969.
After returning home, Percy met Bernadine In Amongst and they married on March 8, 1971. From this union five children were born: Dawn, Kenric, Andrea, Mora and William.
He was employed by the CRST Title 10 Program, CRST Housing Improvement Program, CRRT LIEP Wood Contracting, and was a truck driver for Kilby Construction and Hills Materials.
Sonny Boy loved to hunt, fish, trap, and go coyote hunting. But most of all he loved his grandchildren.
Sonny Boy is survived by his children: Dawn, Kenric (Charity), Andrea, Mora, and William; 12 grandchildren: Cadyn, Cayde, Coltyn, Paige, Mackenzie, Antawn, Maria, Ashton, Lakota, Larae, D’Marcus, and Percy III; one brother, Richard Young; one adopted brother, Randy Kills Small; five sisters: Elverna Dupris, Yvonne Dupris, Lois Dupris, Audrey High Elk, and Elaine Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and Tiospaye grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Percy, Sr.; mother, Rose; and adopted son, Vernon.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Percy’s arrangements.
