Shirley Jenkins Boke, 80, of Gettysburg, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Faulkton Senior Living, Faulkton, SD.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Dick Nickel will be presiding.  Burial will follow at the Gettysburg Cemetery.

Shirley Jenkins was born April 22, 1936 to Walter Jenkins and Doris (Cooke) Rilling in Bismarck, ND. She attended high school in North Dakota.

Shirley married Eugene William Boke in May of 1954 in Yuma, AZ. After Gene’s time in the military, the couple lived in North Dakota for a brief time and then they moved to his home state of South Dakota where they made their home living as farmers/ranchers and raising their seven perfect children.

Shirley enjoyed riding horses with her brothers and sisters as a young girl. She loved her cats, books and having coffee with her friends.

Surrounded by her children, Shirley accepted the Lord as her personal Savior, and He called her home at 9:37 p.m., on July 14, 2016.

Shirley is survived by her children: Jeanne (Roger) Mitchell of Keystone, SD, Jackie Lynn (Steve) Haugen of Lebanon, SD, Nancy (Earl) Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Darlene (Rick) Hofer of Onida, SD, Steve (Barb) Boke of Gettysburg, SD, Doris Ann (Jason) Boyd of Lebanon, SD, Scott (Mellissa) Boke of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-heart, Shawna Kay Boke (Matt) Taggart of Vermillion, SD; grandchildren: Nancy Jean Leppke, Richard Crawford, Casey Crawford, Matthew Cross, Jessica Cecrle, Jenny Beth Vogel, Garth Hofer, Greer Hofer, Nickie Peterson, Steven Boke, Sonnie Boke, Jennifer Sands, Sarah Boyd, Victoria Boyd, Austin Boke, and Haillee Boke; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Rosemarie Haase, Gloria Carter, Jim (Joyce) Jenkins, and Loretta Tschaekofske; and special friend, Elroy Todd.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ronnie and Homer; and sisters, Ann Entringer, and Sandy Hagstrom.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Shirley’s arrangements.
