George attended Highmore High School where he played football and basketball as a guard.  He graduated in 1957 and started work at Jack and Jill as a meat cutter.  George was a butcher for over 60 years.  After Jack and Jill, he went to work at Red Owl where he received the “1970 Market Managers of the Year” award.  George went to work for McDonald’s Meat and Locker Service and worked there for over 22 years.  After McDonald’s closed, George went to work at Mashek’s Food Center where he cut meat until he “retired” in 2016.
