Donald Keller, 74, of Miller, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral service were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Miller with Pastor Mary Ann Sheldon officiating. Burial will be at a later date in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was held from  5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.

Donald Joseph was born February 14, 1935 to Joseph and Lila (Kane) Keller in Hand County. He grew up on the family farm south of Miller along with four brothers and four sisters. After leaving the family farm, he worked at Ziegler Motor Company until he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the service, he was stationed in Texas, New Foundland, and Nebraska. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for the Railroad; where he met and married Alice Beck. Don and Alice moved back to South Dakota where Don worked at the Mobil Station for several years. He then went into business with Artie Manning and operated Miller Digging Service and later worked for Blackburn Basement Repair and recently retired.

Grateful to have shared in Don’s life is his wife, Alice of Miller; brothers: Leon (Terri) Keller of Miller and Keith (Pat) Keller of Parker, Colorado; sisters: Theresa (Lester) Eschenbaum of Miller, LuVay Canale of Arvada, Colorado and Maxine Thompson of Britt, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lila Keller; sister, Evelyn; brothers: Carl and Gene; and brother-in-law, Martin Thompson.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Don's arrangements.
