Lavonne Marshall
August 20, 1931 ~ October 16, 2016
Lavonne Marshall, 85, of Huron and formerly of Highmore, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Sunquest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Highmore with Pastor Ben McKirdy-Wilsey officiating. Burial followed at the Highmore Cemetery.
Lavonne was born to Rozella Forman and William Nesheim on August 20, 1931. She grew up and attended school in Highmore. After her graduation from high school she attended Northern State University where she obtained her teaching degree. She taught second grade in Lake Preston and Pierre.
Francis and Lavonne met in Pierre and were married on June 28, 1959 at the First Methodist Church in Highmore. Three children were born to this union: Douglas, Gregory, and Cindy. They farmed and ranched in Hyde County their entire life.
Lavonne enjoyed being at home and working in her garden. She enjoyed canning and cooking. She enjoying spending time with her dog Chipper and her many cats. Some of the other activities she enjoyed were needlepoint, painting and reading. She was also a member of CPH Extension Club. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Highmore.
She is survived by her three children: Douglas (Susan) Marshall of Pierre, Gregory (Jill) Marshall of Huron and Cindy (Mark) Phillips of Pierre; five grandchildren: Danielle, Jessica, Lindsey, Darlene and Carolyn, six great grandchildren: Zachary, Kyle, Kaiden, Zayla, Lily and Zander; and one great-great grandchild: Logan; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Lavonne's arrangements.
