Melanie Dawn was born on October 28, 1962 to Frank and Rose (Lerew) Maurer at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital in Faulkton. Melanie attended elementary and high school in Faulkton; graduating in 1980. On March 15, 1980, she married the love of her life Roger Martinmaas. To this union, two sons were born: Travis in 1980 and Craig in 1981.
Although her life on earth was short we will forever remember her for many things; she never had a problem expressing her thoughts while watching her sons or grandchildren compete in athletic events, bargain shopping (especially on black Friday), letting people know she was right, and being a wonderful cook. Through the years, Melanie worked several jobs on and off the farm. Her last job was perhaps her favorite being able to work beside her husband every day. Melanie’s sisters were also an important part of her life. They often enjoyed going on vacations together and taking turns hosting holiday events where many memories were made.
Blessed to have shared her life was her husband, Roger of Aberdeen; sons: Travis (Mandy) of Aberdeen and Craig (Karra) of Orient; grandchildren: Gannon, Gage, Paislee, and Presleigh; sisters: Deann (John) Nystrom of Pierre, Tracy (Marvin) Beidler of Miranda, and Robyn (Mike) Moore of Albuquerque, NM; brothers-in-law: David (Glenna) of Miller, Alvie (Cindy) of Orient, Pat of Miller, Tom of Mississippi, and Jerry of Clear Lake; sisters-in-law: Annette (Rodney) of Aberdeen, Cindy (Al) of Aberdeen, Elaine (Greg) of Bismarck, and Karen (Russ) of Edgemont; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; parents-in-law, Gerald and Elfrieda Martinmaas; and niece, Michelle Beidler.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Melanie’s arrangements.
