Delores "Dodie" Laughlin

Delores “Dodie” Laughlin, 80, of Faulkton, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Faulkton Senior Living Center.
Memorial Service was held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Meadow Chapel, Faulkton with Rev. Benji Beaudoin presiding.
Delores Jean Patterson was born October 5, 1936 in Faulkton, SD to James Loren and Amelia Eleanor (Walgamuth) Patterson. She attended and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1954. Dodie went on to further her education by attending Presentation College in Aberdeen, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
On December 28, 1957 Dodie married James Michael Laughlin at Gettysburg. To this union four children were born. Throughout her life, Dodie has had the ability to live many places, always working as a register nurse. She dedicated 55 years of her life helping others.
Dodie always found time to spend with her family, gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed attending bible study and teaching catechism.
Dodie’s life will be treasured by her children: Mark Laughlin, Pat (Cathy) Laughlin, and Kim Mandity, all of Elko, NV and Scotty (Tina) Laughlin, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Patxi, Peio, and Cecil Laughlin, Daniel and Jace Thompson, George Mandity, and Grace Laughlin; sister, Darlene Carr, Faulkton and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents: Albert & Ellen Walgamuth; and paternal grandparents: Carey & Rosetta Patterson.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Dodie’s arrangements.




Today is March 8th and I just found out about Dodie’s passing. I am very sorry to hear that she has gone. She was a very nice person and always had a smile for others. She will be sorely missed. All my simpathies.
