Myron Paul Wieseler, 83, of Polo, passed away February 24, 2017 at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller surrounded by his loving family listening to his favorite, polka music.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Liborius Catholic Church, Polo. Burial follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Polo, with military honors.  Visitation began at 6:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. rosary and prayer service, Thursday, March 2, 2017, all at the church.

Myron was born June 30, 1933 to Martin and Tillie (Naber) Wieseler. He grew up on his family farm just northeast of Polo, SD and continued to live on his family farm his entire life. Growing up in Polo, he attended St. Liborius Catholic School where he completed up to 8^th grade. After his completion of the 8^th grade, he stayed on the farm and helped his dad and the neighbors. At 20 years of age, he joined the military where he was stationed in New Jersey. In 1963, he married Joyce Ann Schaefers and together had 3 children, Mary Colleen (Kenneth Ogan), Alan Francis (Michele Cotton), and Kevin Joseph.  Myron was blessed with four grandchildren, Troy Lynn (Cindy Ogan), Evan Gregory, Sylvia Kate, and Joseph Donovan.

Myron was always a supporter in his grandchildren’s various activities. Whether he was watching the races or a football game, Myron always enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and become young adults. He remained a fan of the Polo Bears and the Miller Rustlers his whole life.

Myron was a member of Knights of Columbus for numerous years. He was also a part of the National Farmer’s Organization. He was always proud of his community and worked in various ways to improve and strengthen the community of Polo. Myron also was very involved in his church, St. Liborius Catholic Church, his entire life. He was an active member of his church’s choir and participated in many other activities of his church.

He could be found daily grabbing a cup of coffee around the orient area and further drifted in his later years to enjoying a cup of coffee at The Cowboy Country Store in Miller with his son, Kevin. Myron also very much enjoyed a good game of cards. He could very frequently be found playing a game of solitaire at the kitchen table or even a game of sheephead with a group of guys and gals around Orient and Polo area. Myron couldn’t only be found in the kitchen playing a game of solitaire he could also be found in the living room listening to Polka music on the radio. Often times, his grandchildren would jump in and dance along with him. Myron and his wife always enjoyed attending the Friday night dances in their younger married life.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his sister, Lorraine (Kenneth) Huss; his sister-in-law, Donine Wieseler; and many cousins.

Myron is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Ray Wieseler.
