Amanda Kaiser

Amanda Kaiser, 90, of Highmore, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Redfield.
Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Highmore with Father Chester Murtha, celebrant. Visitation began one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Highmore.
Amanda was born on May 13, 1926 at Gettysburg, SD to Patrick and Maria (Loding) Miles. She graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1946. On January 10, 1949, she married Leo Kaiser from Hoven, SD. They lived in Hoven and Leo was a self-employed carpenter as he made beautiful wood cabinets for customers. In 1954, they moved to Highmore, SD where Leo accepted a position as a Sales Associate with the Watkins Home Products. Amanda was employed for the Highmore Post Office as a janitor for 20 years. Both Amanda and Leo were employed as the janitor of the Thunderbird Bowling Alley and Café for many years.
Amanda was active in the Catholic Daughters and various positions in the St Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time together with oldest daughter, Jane, at Red Hats Lady Social Club events. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewed quilts for people but most of all spending time with her twelve grandkids and six great grandkids.
The cherished loved ones surviving Amanda are her three sons: Jack (Judith) Kaiser, Britton, Donald Kaiser, Highmore, and Gerald (Carla) Kaiser, Tuttle OK; three daughters: Deborah Strampher, Kansas City, MO, Cindy (LeRoy) Delzer, Rapid City SD, and Becky (Bruce) Iverson, Garvin, MN; son-in-law, Ken Rausch, Pierre; grandchildren: Corey (Julie) Strampher, Kansas City MO; Travis (Jaclyn) Strampher, Kansas City, MO; Brian Rausch, Baton Rouge, LA; Brandon Rausch, St Croix, USVI; Brittany (Dan) McDonald, Pierre; Kelly (AJ) Ruggeri, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Brent (Ollie) Kaiser, Highmore; Kristina (Beau) Peterson and Jennifer Delzer, Rapid City; Zach and Nichy and Cassandra Iverson, Garvin, MN; great grandchildren: Natalie, Caitalyn, Serena Ruggeri, Alyssa Ries (Ruggeri), Brayden and Paityn (Kaiser); two sisters: Emma Bryant, Sturgis, and Marie Torgeston, Euclaire, WI; one sister-in-law, Darlene Miles, Spearfish; brother-in-law, Robert (Lena) Kaiser, Pierre; and sister-in-law, Viola Kaiser, Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo in 1999; daughter, Jane in 2006; brothers, Ted and Fred Miles; and sister, Alice (Miles) Frost.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Amanda’s arrangements.




I am sorry to see that you lost your mother today. I remember what a kind and gentle person she was.
