James Andrew Brings Plenty, 52, of Dupree, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at I.H.S. Hospital, Eagle Butte.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., MDT, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Dupree Multipurpose Building, Dupree, with Shirley Dog Eagle and Valerie Curley presiding. Burial followed in the Dupree City Cemetery. A wake service was held at 6:00 p.m., MDT, Monday, April 3, 2017 at the hall, with a procession from the 2-mile east of Dupree at 4:00 p.m.

James Andrew Brings Plenty was born March 16, 1965 in the community of Thunder Butte, SD to Benjamin and Phoebe (Clown) Brings Plenty. While growing up, he lived in Oakland, CA; Roswell, NM; Idaho Falls, ID; Glasgow, MT; Eagle Butte and Dupree, SD.

Andy received his GED and went on to attend CRST Community College and finally received his degree in social work from Standing Rock College. Andy had numerous jobs but used his skills throughout his life making Lakota Artwork. He was very proud of his work and many pieces are owned by his family and friends.

Andy met Jeannie Haskell in 2005 and they lived in Dupree where he spent the remaining years of his life. He loved to laugh and help people.

Andy is survived by his daughter, Grace Webb of Eagle Butte; brothers, Stephen (Rebecca) Brings Plenty of Rapid City and Roderick “Troy” Brings Plenty of Cheyenne River; and special friend, Jeannie Haskell of Dupree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phoebe Clown and Benjamin Brings Plenty; and one brother, Duane Marcelle.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Andrew’s arrangements.

A Wake was held on April 3, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Dupree Multipurpose Building, Hwy 212 in Dupree, South Dakota
