Bonnie Meyer
September 2, 1934 ~ April 16, 2017
Bonnie Meyer, 82, of Orient, was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Faulkton Senior Living. She was surrounded by her family, who was comforted to know that she was celebrating Easter with Jesus.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman presiding. Burial followed in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bonnie Lee Bent, the fourth of six children, was born September 2, 1934 to Arthur and Lena (Ickler) Bent in Faulkton, at the home of her grandmother. She attended Sprague Country School for eight years and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1952. Bonnie went on to receive her teaching certificate from Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen. Following her graduation, she taught one year of school at a local Faulk County country school.
On June 6, 1955, Bonnie married the love of her life, Robert Meyer. They spent the first years of their marriage living on different air force bases while Robert was enlisted with the military. Following his honorable discharge, they lived on different farms in Faulk County until purchasing the farm near Orient where Bonnie lived the remainder of her life.
When Bonnie was younger she loved riding horse, helping her father in the fields and spending time with her brothers and sisters. In later years, she loved gardening, working in her flower beds, milking cows, and raising calves and chickens. She loved her dogs, naming them all “Pal”. When not helping on the family farm, Bonnie was able to work at Skogmo’s Department Store and Leona’s Greenhouse. She also spent many years guiding 4-H members with her baking, sewing and love of crafts.
Bonnie’s life will be cherished by her husband of 63 years, Robert, of Orient; her children: Linda (Darrell) Bassen, Lamoure, ND, Wanda (Michael) Danner, Corona, CA, Tammy (Mark) Elsperger, Bath, and Tom (Kris) Meyer, Orient; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters: Delores Ford and Donna Schmidt, both of Faulkton; brothers: Dick (JoAnn) and Roger (MaryAnn) Bent, all of Faulkton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents, Arthur and Lena Bent and one brother, Charles Bent.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Bonnie’s arrangements.
