Sherry (Hale) Salas

Sherry Lou (Hale) Salas, 39, of Cherry Creek, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 in Fort Worth, TX.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MDT, Thursday, June 1, 2017, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte, with Mother Margaret Watson and Mother Mikayla Dunfee presiding. Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services will be 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the church, with a procession from four mile at 4:00 p.m.

Sherry Lou Hale was born at Eagle Butte, SD on January 18, 1978 to Michael Duane Hale and Bernice Faith Condon Hale of Cherry Creek, SD. Sherry grew up in Cherry Creek, and she loved riding horses and spending time with her friends and relatives. Sherry was outgoing, outspoken, and had a good sense of humor; she was well known for her cooking and willingness to help others.

She attended school at Cherry Creek Day School and Takini School, and then Sherry moved to Aberdeen where she attended high school. She loved to travel and see new places. She lived in Augas Calirntes, Mexico; Salt Lake City, Utah; Worthington, Minnesota; Corning and East Los Angeles, California; Eagle Butte, South Dakota; and Grand Island, Nebraska. While living in Utah, she met Carlos Salas, and they married on February 2, 2000 and started their family. They lived in California, and then later moved to Eagle Butte, SD.

Sherry is survived by her children: Jacquelyn, Hailey, Jessinia, Carlos, James, Nathan and Owen Salas; sister, Tamera Hale; brother, Clarence Hale; special niece, Cheryn Ella Hale; uncles: Harold (Geraldine) Condon, Monte Condon, and Everette Condon; aunties: Andrea Hale Mary Buck Elk Thunder, Verzella LaPlante, Rilla Noisy Hawk and Clarice Condon; and a special aunt, Robin, who was like her other mother.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Bernice Hale; brothers, James and Jake Hale; sister, Malisa Hale; uncles: Ira, Gerald and Keeler Condon, and Kirby Buck Elk Thunder; aunts; Lavonne, Julie and Bonita Condon; and cousins, Kerwin Condon and Sharon Condon.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Sherry’s arrangements.
