Clement Ambrose White Dog, Sr., "Oyate Wichakchi Nanji" (Stands-His-Nation), 68, of Eagle Butte, began his journey to the spirit world Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m, MDT, Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Mikayla Dunfee presiding. Burial will follow at the Blackfoot Ascension Cemetery, Black Foot, SD. A wake service will be at 7:00 p.m., MDT, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the church, with a procession from the 4-mile at 5:00p.m.

Clement was born at Old Agency on January 14, 1949 to Dorothy (Joens) Garreau and Ambrose White Dog. He was the eldest of 10 children and spent his youth growing up along the Moreau River, Swiftbird and Gettysburg areas. He attended school at Gettysburg and Cheyenne Eagle Butte.

In 1968 he enlisted in the United States Army, and he was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharged in 1970.

In 1978, Clem met the love of his life, Theresa. They began their life together raising their children and grandchildren, while making memories and insuring they never were without.

Clem’s character and work ethic spoke volumes about the type of man he was. Clem was employed with CRST Property & Supply for 38 yrs. He was never afraid of hard work, regardless of the weather conditions. Day or night, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He would go from fixing furnaces, to preparing the Pow Wow and Rodeo Grounds for the Annual CRST Labor Day Celebration. He never looked for praise and would often tease saying a sandwich, an iced Coke and a simple thank you was payment enough and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.

It was a short time from his cancer diagnosis to his final breath, but not once through all his complications did he complain. Clem’s final hours were quiet and drama free, just like the man he was. He was a man who worked hard, never complained about life and just enjoyed the moment. He taught his children and grandchildren about what matters the most and would often say ignore the B.S. and just be happy. He was definitely his grandchildren’s biggest fan, and you would always see him at their sporting events telling them to do their best and "make your free throws."

Clem was called "Batman", Papa Clem, Clem Dog and Cool Breeze and was the father figure and mentor to a loving and extended family. He was a kind and generous man that would always greet you with a smile and a hand shake. He was known for his great sense of humor. You would often hear him say "Clem Dog is in the house," or at the end of the day he would throw you a peace sign with a big old smile and say "cool breeze is outta here."

Clement is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Theresa, of Eagle Butte; daughter, Lesli White Dog (Ryman Lebeau); grandchildren: Nashon, Richard, Pierce and Sunlyn Heart; son, Clement White Dog, Jr. (Brenda) of Denver, CO; granddaughters: Margaret White Dog and Julie White Dog, both of Eagle Butte; step-daughter, Gayle Lofton; grandchildren: Dustin, Jordyn, Ricqual and D'Lani; step-son, Richard Lofton; grandchildren: ShaHayla and Trevis Lofton; step-daughter, Jodi Lofton (Dean Kohlus); grandchildren: K'Lona, Grant, Dayson, and T-Bear; sister, Candy LeBeau of Eagle Butte, SD; nephews: Darwin, Chad, Brent, nieces: Chardel and Milly; sister, Linda LeBeau of Green Bay, WI; nephew, Louie Cornelius; nieces, Alebra and Sandy Cornelius of Green Bay, WI; brother, Floyd LeBeau of Aberdeen; nephew, Marlin; nieces, Melissa and Karen; brother, Gordon LeBeau (Ella) of Eagle Butte, SD; nephew, Merritt LeBeau, Lower Brule, SD; sister-in-law, Anita Thompson (Alfred) of Eagle Butte; brother-in-law, Rick Laundreaux of Eagle Butte; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
