Della M. Moncur, 85, of Miller, passed away Saturday, January13, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Miller with Pastor Will Page officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.

Della was born in Highmore, South Dakota, December 10, 1932, to Don and Kathryn (Waring) Irvin. In January 1939, she became the adopted daughter of George M. Johnson. Her family lived in Buffalo County, where she went to country school. Della graduated from Miller High School in 1950.

She and Ray Moncur were married June 30, 1950 in Miller. After Ray completed barber college, they moved to Spearfish, returning to Miller in 1961. Della worked for the ASCS office and Tri-state Insulation; she started working at First National Bank (Quoin) in 1969 and continued there until her retirement in 1995. Later she worked part time in the sheriff’s office, at Pump N’ Pack and Good Samaritan. She was a member of the Methodist Church but later in life joined the Baptist Church.

Della and Ray loved to dance and spent many Saturday nights at the Legion. Della also loved to travel. She went to the west coast with her sister, Bobby and to the east coast and Branson, Missouri with her sister-in-law, Lois McDaniel. She also made several trips with her daughter to Wall, SD to buy doughnuts.

Della is survived by her daughters: Sandra Selting, Wendy (Tom) Anderberg and Sharon Swisher; two sons: Scott Moncur and Doug Moncur; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; one sister, Roberta (Duane) Eschenbaum; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Janice) Moncur; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and grandson, Brett Selting.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Della’s arrangements.
