Kenneth T. Huss, 90 of Faulkton, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House, Rapid City.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Faulkton, with Fr. Christopher Hughes, Fr. Michael Schneider, and Fr. Thomas Clement officiating. Burial followed in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Faulkton with military honors. A vigil with a rosary was held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the church.

He was born June 2, 1927 to Theodore and Anna (Klein) Huss at the Faulkton Hospital. Kenny attended grade school & high school in Orient.   He worked on the Ted Huss farm from 1945-1954 with the exception of November 1950-December 1952 when he served in the US Army during the Korean War.

In 1955, he purchased his own farm just north of the home place. While living on the farm, he served on the Arcade Township board for 27 years, was active in the Orient American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. He was also member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Orient while living on the farm.

Kenny married Lorraine Wieseler on May 28, 1956 at St Liborius Catholic Church in Polo, SD. They were blessed with 4 children. They semi-retired in 1987 and moved to Faulkton but he continued to work with both of his sons until the death of Larry in 1991. Kenny didn’t miss a day on the farm as he still helped Terry until he moved to Rapid City in Sept of 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of 61 years; children: Lynette (Chip) Foerster of Rapid City, Terry (Bev) Huss of Faulkton, and Jean (Daniel) Petereit of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Huss of Faulkton, Joyce Wieseler of Polo, and Donine Wieseler of Highmore; and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry; one son-in-law, John VerHelst; four brothers: Clarence, Leo, Cyril, and Raymond; and four sisters: Marcella, Irene, Verna and Maurine (Billie).

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Kenneth’s arrangements.
