Joyce Glanzer, 78, of Aberdeen and formerly of Highmore, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore with Rev. Sara C. Kayser officiating. Burial followed at the Highmore Cemetery. Visitation began one hour prior to the funeral service.

Joyce Marie Heckenlaible was born October 23, 1939 to Reuben, Sr. and Katherine (Bawdon) Heckenlaible. She was baptized and raised in the Methodist faith. In 1957, she graduated from Highmore High School. She married Dennis Denton Glanzer on September 27, 1963 and to this union one daughter, Lexie Kay, was born. Joyce spent her life in Highmore waitressing at various hometown businesses. About 2011 her daughter convinced her to "retire" and move in with them to spend more time enjoying her three grandchildren.

Joyce enjoyed crafting, reading, sewing and finding the good deals at the rummage sales. She loved planting her flowers and gardening and watching all the animals at their hobby farm but her all-time favorite was playing games and cards with her grandkids.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter and son-in-law, Lexie (Nick) Westphal; and her grandchildren: Tyrel, Alexis and Erika.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter; one infant son; and one brother.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Joyce's arrangements.
