Hazel Condon

Hazel Brandi Condon, 3 year old daughter of Toni Cochran and Ezra Condon, of Cherry Creek, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Children’s Hospital & Clinics in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Multi-Purpose Building, Dupree, with Shirley Dog Eagle and Vernell Sitting Crow presiding. Burial followed in the Dupree Cemetery. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. MDT, Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Multi-Purpose Building, with a procession at 4:00 p.m. from the two-mile corner east of Dupree.
Hazel Brandi Condon “Wanbli Ska Win” was born to Toni Carole Cochran and Ezra Phillip Condon on April 30, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She lived with her parents in Minneapolis, MN.
Hazel had a serious medical condition. She had to be close to a medical unit in Minneapolis, because in her young life, she had many surgeries at the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Hazel was very smart and spontaneous. She loved learning and always sang her ABC’s. She also enjoyed swimming and playing with her dolls. Hazel had a good sense of humor and greeted everyone. She called herself “The Little Cherry Creek Girl Monster”. She was a girly-girl who loved makeup, glitter, doing her nails, butterflies, and unicorns. Her favorite color was yellow. Hazel will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her parents, Toni Cochran and Ezra Condon; maternal great grandparents: Mary Clown, Kay Clown, Robert Cochran, and Richard Clown; aunt, Brenda Veit; paternal grandparents, Everett Condon and September Waloke; paternal great grandparent, Sylvester Waloke; and many extended relatives.
Hazel was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dominique Cochran; maternal great grandmother, Carole Clown; paternal great grandparents, Julie Ann Condon and Kathy Bear Stops. Her great-great grandparents were James and Anna Clown. She is a descendent from the Crazy Horse Tiospaye.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Hazel’s arrangements.

Toni and Ezra, I recall with great fondness all of the Eatly Intervention home visits I did with you and Hazel when I worked for Minneapolis Public Schools. (I now do the same job through St. Paul Public Schools). Ezra, you told Jane (the PT) and I the wonderful story of the Star Quilt. I always admired your connections with Hazel. My heart is full.
