Evangeline Seidschlaw, 100, of Faulkton passed Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Redfield Care and Rehab.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Thomas Carlson presiding. Burial will follow in the Faulkton Cemetery. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at the funeral home with visitation one-hour prior.

Evangeline Evelyn (Kadlec) Seidschlaw was born on September 24th 1918 in Bon Home County, Tyndall, SD to Joseph William and Anna Mary (Pavlis) Kadlec. At the age of 6 ½ years the family moved to Cleveland Township in Edmunds County, SD.   She attended grade school in Cleveland Township and after the 8th grade took care of her ailing mother. After her mother passed away she worked in Ipswich, SD.

She married Milton O Seidschlaw on July 17, 1940 in Aberdeen. SD. They made their home near Cresbard until 1944 when they moved to Freedom Township, Wecota, SD. They farmed there until 1989 when they retired and moved to Faulkton. Milton passed away in 1990.   She worked at the Dairio, West Side Motel, and the Faulkton Nursing Home.   She retired from the nursing home when she was 82.

She enjoyed many hobbies: reading, crocheting, sewing, raising flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In 2009 She entered the Golden Living Nursing Home in Ipswich, SD. Three years later she transferred to Redfield Care and Rehabilitation for care of dementia.

She is survived by one daughter: Sharon (Jack) Jones, Faulkton, SD; one daughter-in-law: Roberta Seidschlaw, Wecota, SD; four granddaughters: Pam (Scott) Hammond, Appleton WI; Tami Jones Faulkton SD, Stefanie (Steven) Seidschlaw-Waldren, Overland Park, KS; Krista (Keith) Seurer, Sioux Falls, SD; step granddaughter: Farrah (Lonnie) Mahrt, Plankinton, SD; step grandson, Brandon (Kerri) Johnson, Watertown, SD; four great-grandchildren: Angela (Mike) Agosta, Kaukauna, WI, Tyler (Rebekah) Hammond, Kaukauna, WI, Owen Seurer and Cason Seurer, Sioux Falls, SD; step great granddaughters: Morgen, Edana, & Nyomi Mahrt, Plankinton, SD, Jainia and Allana Johnson, Watertown, SD; two great-great grandsons: Henry Agosta and Lucas Agosta, Kaukauna, WI.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Loren; daughter-in-law, Pam Seidschlaw; six brothers: Frank, Joe, Emil, William, Albert, and Wilfred; three sisters: Anna Kukrall, Rose Kukrall, and Olga Wagner; infant twin great-great granddaughters: Evelyn Rose and Emma Marie Agosta.

The family is so grateful for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Golden Living Nursing Home and Redfield Care and Rehabilitation the last 9 years.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Evangeline’s arrangements.

  2. I have many fond memories of Earle going to(as they called her) Aunt Evangeline’s to mow or Irene taking baked goods over to her place. I had the opportunity to visit with her at the Snyders also. RIP Evangeline!
