Arthur “Art” Hepper, 84, of Gettysburg, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, Pierre.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg, with Rev. Jeff Adel presiding. Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis. Visitation was one-hour prior to the service.
Arthur Hepper was born July 23, 1934 in Lowry, SD to Jacob and Magdalena (Bieber) Hepper. He attended school in Lowry until the age of 11 when the family moved to a farm in Potter County, SD. He then attended rural country school.
On December 2, 1954, Art enlisted in the United States Army serving until November 30, 1956, when he received his honorable discharge. He returned to South Dakota where he worked construction. In 1974 Art returned to farming, which he did for the next 44 years.
Art is survived by one brother, Donald (Sandra) Hepper of Onida; two sisters-in-law: Thelma Hepper of Gettysburg and Edith Hepper of Tolstoy; one brother-in-law, Elwood Moore of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Esther (Hank) Knecht, Ruth (Walter) Nagel, Hazel (Erwin) Nagel, Joyce (Paul) Scheller, and Patricia Moore; and four brothers: Arnold, James, Clyde, and William Hepper.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Art’s arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Art passing. He was a good man. May he be in peace.
Art will be missed everyday. He was a great guy and I am thankful that he was a part of my life and the lives of my family. There will not be a day of hunting that goes by without thinking about all the memories of him and the good times that always included Uncle Art.
