Maxine L. Larson, 73, of Faulkton, passed away, Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Faulkton Area Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2010 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Maxine Louise Stevenson was born June 6, 1936 to Truman and Stella (Bailey) Stevenson in Faulkton, South Dakota. She attended Stevenson rural grade school and graduated from Ipswich High School in 1954. Maxine went on to Northern State College where she received her teacher’s certificate. She taught country school in Norbeck for two years. On September 17, 1955 she married Roger Larson at the Faulkton Methodist Church. Together they raised ten children. They lived at several locations over the years including northwest Faulk County, the Orient area, and central Faulk County. In addition to raising ten children she was a substitute teacher and a cook at the Snack Shop and the Shirk Home.

Maxine enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and reading. She also enjoyed her children and grandchildren’s many activities. She was an active member of 4-H for 50+ years, during this time she served as a 4-H Leader and a state 4-H judge. Maxine was also a member of the Domestic Kate’s Extension Club, Legion Auxiliary, and was an active Bible Study member, a devout Christian and was involved in numerous other activities.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Roger; children: Jerrine Larson of Faulkton, Charlene Larson of Sioux City, IA, Francine (Doug) Carlson of Lawton, IA, Dannine (Dave) Gnat of Ankeny, IA, Karlene (Jeff) Singer of Le Mars, IA Corrine (Jerry) Weyand of Faulkton, Kristine (Tom) Meyer of Orient, Bradley (Jamie) Larson of Blair, NE and Brent (Gwen) Larson of Laramie, WY; her mother, Stella Stevenson of Faulkton; and 20 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Truman Stevenson and one son, Bryan.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Maxine’s arrangements.
