Michael Condon, Sr.

Michael Condon Sr., 67, of Dupree, SD, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at I.H.S. Hospital, Eagle Butte.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, September 16, 2019 at the CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte, with Deacon Harold Condon officiating. Burial followed at the Dupree City Cemetery, Dupree. Wake services was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte, with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00 p.m.

Michael Anthony Condon Sr. was born January 22, 1952 to Silas “Pat” and Catherine (Creek) Condon in Cherry Creek, SD. He attended Cherry Creek Day School in his younger hear. In 1958 Pat relocated to Dupree with his family where Mike attended Dupree High School, graduating in 1972. While attending school he participated in the Jr. League, basketball, football, baseball as a fast pitch pitcher.

Right after high school Michael married his high school sweetheart, Inez Iron Bird. To this union three children were born, Michael A. Condon Jr., Tonya C. Condon and Megan M. (Condon) Lafferty. He worked for the tribe as a heavy equipment operator for two years. Following this he worked for the CRST Law Enforcement.

In 1982 he met Mary “Babe Mary” Cloud Eagle, to this union JaePaula Condon was born on January 1, 1983. Then later he met Patricia Brings Plenty. Together they had his youngest, Lakota Condon on June 10, 1992.

Mike is survived by his children: Michael A. (Erica) Condon Jr., Tonya C. Condon, Megan M. (Milo) Lafferty, JaePaula Condon and Lakota Condon (Caleb); grandchildren: Shadow & Blaze Condon, Shalyndrea & Jerral, Murray Aliah Condon, Shawnee, Sheyenne & ShaKinley Lafferty, Kip, Marcus, Quincey, Jordan, and Jessica Red Dog, Sativa Condon, Baptiste Red Dog, Gisele & Caleb Vandervier II; great grandson, Kolbe N. Crews; brothers: Gordon “Shorty” Condon, Bernard (Eldora) LeClarie, Vincent “PeeWee” (Alta) LeClaire, and Edward “Eddie” LeClaire; sisters: Karen, Bernice and June Condon, Annebelle LeClaire, Theo (Vernon) Iron Cloud, Sharon Good Horse, and Marlis (Tim) Swimmer; grandmother, Ellen In The Woods; uncle, Braven Condon; aunties: Rita, Jeanette and Bernadine Condon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Silas “Pat” and Catherine (Creek) Condon and Vincent and Margaret (Creek) LeClaire; paternal grandparents: Silas Felix and Mary (Ward) Condon; maternal grandparents: James and Josephine (Hail Hawk) Creek; brothers: LeRoy and Melvin LeClaire and Robert “Bob” Condon; and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Michael’s arrangements.
